BIM - A General Introduction to Building Information Modeling

Location: CETA lab with CAD; Charles Dana Hall at the University of Hartford

Friday, 4/9/2010
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

What does BIM mean to each player? What is realistic? What is not? How long will this take?  We’ll illustrate the distinct differences between CAD and BIM-based tools and workflows as well as clarify the existing taxonomy of 3D tools available across the AEC industry.  Participants will be able to articulate and plan for the conceptual change in process that affects the way architects, engineers and contractors work together and will understand the impact a BIM workflow has on a firm’s process and thus its management and business decisions.

Jay Dougherty, LEED AP is an Associate Director for Navigant Consulting’s Global Construction Practice.  As part of the leadership for the BIM Services Group he brings extensive experience in the utilization of BIM and integrated project delivery in the analysis and resolution of complex design and construction issues.
