This
comprehensive presentation includes an overview of Connecticut's
Building regulatory process with emphasis on International Building
Code. All amendments will be included.
Statutory
origins of regulations are summarized and the responsibilities of code
officials, design professionals and building owners are reviewed. New
Codes adopted in Connecticut are listed and covered. Focus is given to
the code development and enforcement process in order to present an
overall perspective of building owner responsibilities and liabilities
in the cases of:
1) new buildings
2) changes of use in existing buildings
3) and alterations and additions or repairs in existing buildings with no proposed construction or changes in use.
Instructor: Bruce J. Spiewak, AIA,
is a consulting architect specializing in building, fire safety, and
accessibility code and regulation compliance in Connecticut.
