BIM for Design and Construction
BIM Certificate Requirement
Friday, April 30, 2010
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m
BIM is a tool and process for both design and construction. For designers we'll demonstrate the practical, low-hanging efficiencies that architects, structural engineers and MEP engineers are achieving with BIM such as; flexible design iretation, quick 3D visualization and consistent & coordinated documentation across disciplines.
For construction we'll show case study examples of BIM for both contractors and subs; visualization, clash detection, sub-contractor coordination, construction scheduling, material takeoff and cost estimation. We'll also consider "Design BIM" vs. "Means & Methods BIM" and the delivery/translation/transition of a BIM project from design consultants to a General Contractor.
Instructor: Jay Dougherty, LEED AP, is an Associate Director for Navigant Consulting's Global Construction Practice. He holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Jay is an instructor for the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) BIM 101 Ciriculum.
AIA Learning Units are available for this workshop.
(NOTE: Programs dealing exclusively with codes are not eligible for engineering PDH.)
Discounted rates will show on invoices and/or credit card receipts.
