What's Next?
Drones, which were considered "new" to our industry less than a decade ago are now commonly used on job sites for multiple purposes. The Tech Trio Series is designed to answer the question "What's next?" What new technologies are in use, but still in a developmental stage, that we can expect will be commonly used in the next 3-5 years? Proptech, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence are three technologies that cover a wide range of applications and that we expect will grow rapidly in use. Join us to explore "What's Next?"

Proptech
$24 billion was invested by venture capital firms into Property Technology (PropTech) companies in 2020 alone. But what is PropTech? And why is it drawing so much interest? PropTech is an umbrella term used to define technologies that can make buildings and property transactions more efficient, improve security, and lower building maintenance and operational costs while enhancing the user experience. Some of these technologies include software, hardware, innovative construction materials, big data, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality, and virtual reality. Hartford is becoming a hub for PropTech start-ups. Join us for a session with Upward Labs, a PropTech Venture Capital firm and startup Lab located in Hartford. Learn the basics of PropTech and hear directly from startup founders from Upward Lab's latest cohort.

Blockchain
We hear the term blockchain often, but what does it mean? Images of matrix-style data streams and bitcoin come to mind. We want to know what it is, and we want to understand why it’s so important. Experts often talk about blockchain in terms and scenarios that we in the AEC industry are unfamiliar with. Join Stephen Piper, an IBM technology executive with 20+ years of Business Intelligence experience, and Erik Sanford, a construction technology expert with 20+ years of construction experience, in a discussion on just what the heck blockchain is and how it can help the AEC industry.

Artificial Intelligence: A Force Multiplier for the AEC Industry
When was the last time you had enough time to accomplish your tasks completely? Do you settle for “good enough” more than you would like? Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be your force multiplier. Think of it as a time multiplier - you can accomplish more with AI than without it. You probably already use AI without knowing it. Does Siri help you find information online quicker than you can find it yourself? What if we could use AI to scrub specifications or provide multiple project schedules in the time it takes you to get through a few pages or a few tasks? Join us to talk about AI and how it is being used as a trusted advisor to improve the AEC industry.
