Description
This workshop provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to gather requirements, accurately define project scope that details all work components and learn the elements involved in verifying key project deliverables, as well as detect variances from the scope baseline and recommend corrective action during design, bid phase and construction.
Learning Objectives

Participants should plan to spend approximately 60-120 minutes to complete the online training prior to the Live Instructor session.
The Live Instructor session is held through Zoom on Thursday, March 4, 2021, 8-10am.

This workshop is a requirement in CI's Project Management Certificate program.

Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.4 Continuing Education Units or 4 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units.

Learning Objectives
- Define project scope & translate it into a complete set of construction documents.
- Learn how a project work plan provides understanding among stakeholders, enables the team to perform project planning in defining criteria, project goals, expectations & minimize change.
- Understand that change is inevitable due to owner-driven changes, scope deficiencies & changes that result from insufficient construction documents.
- Identify scope creep, how project managers analyze each request and communicate the impact & alternatives.

Speaker
Michael Schrier, Director of Design and STEM Projects, University of CT Planning Architecture
Michael Schrier is a registered architect with a B.A. Degree from McGill University and a Masters of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. Michael also earned an M.B.A. from Fordham University. He has had extensive experience in the design and construction of medical and institutional buildings, while in private practice in the State of New York and Connecticut, and as site director for design and construction for New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. At Yale School of Medicine Facilities Planning and Construction, he oversees a staff of project managers that implement projects over two campuses. He also developed the project management certificate curriculum at the University of Hartford’s Construction Institute, and teaches the Principles of Project Management and Scope Management classes.

Construction Institute Project Management workshops are applicable towards prerequisite hours in PMI®'s Project Management Professionals (PMP®) program. Construction Institute is an AIA Registered Provider and a CCM Recertification Point Provider. Course attendees are eligible to receive 0.4 Continuing Education Units, 4 CCM Renewal Points, and/or 4 AIA Continuing Education Learning Units, verified through certificates of attendance, which are sent to participants after completion of workshop and assessment. Those wishing to receive AIA Continuing Education Learning Units and/or CCM Renewal Points should check in at the sign-in desk and fill out the appropriate attendance form(s) to receive credit.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to an event for a refund. If amount is outstanding, the entire amount will still be due the Construction Institute. Substitutions may be made before the start date of any event. Events may be rescheduled due to speaker conflict or severe weather. We reserve the right to cancel due to insufficient enrollment, in which case event fees will be refunded in full. Thank you for your consideration.
Recording and Photographic Release
Registration and attendance at, or participation in, Construction Institute events and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes of such events and activities by the Construction Institute. No other recording is allowed.
