One of the most powerful tools we have as humans is our ability to take a mental step out of the swirl of daily activity and to create a moment of calm reflection. 2020 brought many unexpected and unwelcome challenges and changes. We are all doing things we never expected to do and doing them in ways that are new to many of us, whether it's implementing new health and safety measures at work, teaching our kids at home, or social distancing at the grocery store as we hunt for toilet paper. So, while we are still early in the New Year, let's take that precious moment to stop and reflect on where we want to go from here and what ideas we want to carry forward with us.
Here are the 3 ideas I plan to carry with me into 2021.
Collaboration, the core value of the Construction Institute, is more important than ever. Our best opportunity for tackling the problems that we face as an industry and in our communities is by bringing together people with diverse expertise, experience, and perspectives, to create solutions that work.
Embracing innovation means asking what new opportunities we can create to support our industry instead of asking how we can employ technology to continue to do things as they have been done in the past.
Touch base more, not less. The informal conversations we have with each other at various events are an important part of our connection as human beings. So let's pick up the phone and catch up. I want to know how you are doing and how the Institute and I can help.
I look forward to seeing you in person in 2021. - Nancy Greenwald, Executive Director
