Professional Bio

Nancy Greenwald has 38 years of experience as a lawyer and business executive in the AEC/FM industry, dealing with projects ranging from $50,000 to $9 billion. A Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, Ms. Greenwald serves on the American Arbitration Association's Construction and Commercial Industry Panels and has been appointed as an arbitrator and mediator by numerous private clients and courts. In addition to her work as an arbitrator and mediator, Ms. Greenwald is the Executive Director of the Construction Institute, Inc. a nonprofit, non-partisan association of diverse professionals, representing every aspect of the industry from design to construction to operation and maintenance. Its mission is to promote cross-industry collaboration. She speaks frequently and teaches best practices in arbitration and mediation, construction project communication, and dispute systems design, and trains construction managers, engineers, architects, and other professionals in conflict resolution practices that better equip them to be problem-solvers in their practice and in the field. An expert in emerging construction technology, Ms. Greenwald speaks and writes about the incorporation of blockchain, smart contracts, AI, and other technologies into design and construction, examining both risks and opportunities. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School (cum laude) 1981.
