Scheduling 101 - Reading and Building CPM Schedules Using Primavera P6

Reading and Building CPM Schedules Using Primavera P6
A Practical Introduction for AEC Professionals
A project schedule is more than a reporting tool — it is a contractual instrument that directly affects risk, performance, and project outcomes.
In this focused, in-person two and a half-hour session, participants will gain a practical introduction to reading, interpreting, and developing a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule using Primavera P6 as the working platform.
Designed for architects, engineers, project managers, construction managers, facilities professionals, owners, OPMs, general contractors, and subcontractors, this program bridges the gap between schedule theory and real-world application.
Participants will examine:
-
The structure and logic of CPM schedules
-
How to identify the critical path and analyze float
-
The contractual importance of a properly developed baseline schedule
-
Common schedule weaknesses and coordination risks
-
Foundational techniques for building a basic CPM schedule in Primavera P6
-
Practical tips to improve schedule accuracy and reliability
Whether you review schedules as part of construction administration or actively manage project timelines, this session will strengthen your ability to evaluate schedule integrity and understand its contractual implications.
